Remembrance Sunday Service – 9th November 2025
On Remembrance Sunday a beautiful service was held in St. Michael’s Church, following the traditional parade through town, led by the Royal British Legion.
This year’s Remembrance service marked the Reverand Noel McGarrigle’s first Remembrance Sunday in Abergele, and he delivered a moving address highlighting the importance of peace and understanding between all of us. The Mayor Cllr Tracey Brennan led the congregation in prayer, Mr Matt Wildsmith and Mr Hugh Williams read from John 15, 12 – 17, and an Emrys Ap Iwan pupil read from Romans 8, 31-39.
It was heartening to see our local schools and youth groups participating, including Ysgol Emrys Ap Iwan, Ysgol Glan Gele, Ysgol Glan Morfa, Ysgol Sant Elfod, Abergele Scouts, Abergele Rugby, Abergele Netball, to name but a few, alongside our local Councillors, and most importantly, our Veterans.
Many thanks to all those in attendance on this day of gratitude and reflection – it was a record-breaking turnout, demonstrating Abergele’s community spirit once again.
