Mayor's Civic Service Brings Community Together in Support of St Kentigern Hospice
Abergele Town Council was delighted to welcome residents, community representatives and civic dignitaries to St Michael's Church for the Mayor's Civic Service, hosted by the Mayor of Abergele, Cllr Alan Hunter.
The service was led by Rev Canon Christine R Owen, whose thoughtful reflections helped make the occasion both meaningful and uplifting. We are also extremely grateful to the talented pupils of Ysgol Glan Morfa and Ysgol Tan y Gopa, whose singing added a special touch to the service, and to Beulah Brass for providing wonderful music. The service focussed on supporting those in need and each other; this was highlighted in the readings, the sermon and in the rousing hymns.
A heartfelt thanks is also extended to all the dignitaries and guests who attended, helping to make the event such a fitting celebration of community spirit.
The congregation heard from Mark Connelly, Fundraising Manager at St. Kentigern Hospice, the Mayor's chosen charity for the year, who spoke movingly about the vital support and compassionate care the hospice provides to local families. Thanks to the generosity of those attending the service, an impressive £345.81 was raised in support of the hospice's invaluable work.
Abergele Town Council would like to thank everyone who attended, contributed and supported the service, helping to make it such a memorable occasion.
